Rahul Parhi
Assistant Professor of ECE

Rahul Parhi is an assistant professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at UCSD. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) from 2022 to 2024. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2022 at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His research lies at the interface between functional and harmonic analysis and data science and their applications to signal processing, machine learning, statistics, and information theory.

Anıl Kamber is an ECE Ph.D. student at UCSD. He earned his bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, Turkey. He is interested in understanding why gradient-based optimization performs so well for modern deep learning architectures.

Tongtong Liang
Ph.D. Student

Tongtong Liang is a Mathematics Ph.D. student at UCSD. He earned his master's degree and bachelor's degree in Southern University of Technology and Science, China. His research interests focus on understanding how inductive bias of optimization algorithms and network architecture help generalization.

Luke McDermott
Ph.D. Student

Luke McDermott is a Ph.D. student in the Machine Learning & Data Science track at UCSD's ECE department, starting in 2024. He previously worked as an ML Research Scientist at Modern Intelligence and earned a B.S. in Mathematics-Computer Science from UCSD in 2023.
